6/6 entry
To all of my fellow Americans who think (like me) that they are a good driver, allow me to interject..... we may be good drivers in America, but here, WE ARE NOTHING!!! NOTHING!! These people are out of their minds!! They make rules up as they go and instead of road rage for any little infraction, they just honk the horn and move on!! It is like a flock of birds you see in the sky, sort of aligned, everyone going the same directions, then out of no where they turn on a dime, that is driving in Almaty. I'd like to think I am a pretty tough guy but as Natasha took us back into the mountains today I actually closed my eyes on two occasions as she passed other cars on a slick mountain round into a blind curve avoiding pot holes the size of Delaware, and CATTLE!! Yes, cattle, check out the picture!!! Okay, enough of my ranting, on to our day.
Natasha picked us up today and took us to a new mall that is owned by the previous mayor and even she had not been too it yet. It was way out there and it was very nice. The girls window shopped and I kept time. On the way back from the mall on the way to the mountains we saw our 1st lady of the evening, not sure why I am telling you this. I think the mountains have been my favorite of all of the places we have visited and today Natasha drove through all the back roads as we made our way home. After the sightseeing it was off to the little one.
As Lisa and I sat in the waiting room for them to bring us Lia we heard her screaming and yelling and we looked at each other and said "We can do this!". As the nurse brought her to us we noticed a knot and bruise on the front of her forehead the size of an apple (alma). From what we could gather from the nurse is that our little linebacker got into a tug of war and someone let go and the toy smacked her upside her head. So there we were, being handed our daughter bloody, bruised, and screaming. As we made our way downstairs it was hard to justify to the other workers as they walked by that we did not do it.
Even through her bruise, her teething, and her cold, she still made us smile today. She was a tad cranky and that was multiplied when she fell on her knot while outside. Mommy did a good job of calming her down and making her feel better. Today was the first day she saw bubbles and she enjoyed it. Well it is time for dinner, Lisa is preparing a wonderful meal of rice and veggies simmered in soy sauce!! Yummy!!
Thanks for checking in!!!
(P.S. Barb, my wife has left the room, check out the pictures below darling!!)
