May 30th entry
Enough of this tourist stuff for lunch, today Lisa and I went to downtown Almaty to have a real
Kazakhstan meal in a Kazakhstan restaurant without a translator or a waiter who spoke English.  I
must say we did pretty good and really enjoyed the meal.  Lisa went for the vegetarian meal which was
served in courses and she loved it.  I closed me eyes and pointed at something and I got what looked
like two meat balls filled with mushrooms, fried and covered in a salsa type sauce.  The meat rested on
some kind of flat bread and I loved it.  The people were very nice and it was our cheapest meal to
date, only 1700 tenge or about 13 dollars.  After lunch we took a tour of the housing in Almaty and it
was strange to see million dollar houses on crappy lots with poor fences, awful roads, debris, and just
junk in theirbriefly  It was strange.

After our city tour we went to see little miss thing and today we met with the baby house director who
spoke with us briefly and advised us we will meet late this week in her office.  Today was an outside
day and we could not take pictures for fear that we would get images of the house, the grounds, or the
other children.  Little Lia is TEETHING something awful but was a little more cheerful than yesterday.
She even let me hold her several times today and when Lisa was putting her to sleep on her chest
before it was time to go, she held my hand and rubbed it.  IT WAS GREAT.

I don't dare say today was an uneventful today because after all we are halfway across the world
meeting our daughter for the 1st time, but compared to the previous week we have spent here, today
was the calmest.  Lisa and I are in for and thanks for checking in Donna!!
